Patent Advisory
You Have an Idea. Can You Make Money From It?
Inventing something is the easy part. Understanding whether your patent can generate real commercial value — before you spend thousands on lawyers — is where most inventors get stuck.
Plain-Language Patent Advice for Inventors and Engineers
We offer non-professional patent review and commercial viability advisory services. This is not legal advice, and we're not patent attorneys. What we are is an experienced team of Physicists, PhDs, Software and technical professionals who understand how industrial technology gets commercialized — and how often it doesn't. If you've invented something in the industrial data, instrumentation, SCADA, or related technology space, we can help you think through the commercial reality before you commit significant resources to the patent process.
What We Actually Do
Commercial Viability Assessment
We look at your invention from a market perspective. Is there a real problem being solved? Who would pay for it? What would they pay? Are there existing solutions that already do this? Is the market large enough to justify the cost of patenting and commercializing?
Technical Feasibility Review
Can the device or method actually be built and deployed at commercial scale? Are there engineering challenges that would make it impractical or prohibitively expensive? We bring deep technical experience in industrial systems to this assessment.
Competitive Landscape Overview
We help you understand the existing technology landscape — not a formal patent search, but a practical assessment of what's already out there and how your invention compares. This helps you understand whether your idea is truly novel and whether competitors could design around it.
Commercialization Pathway Discussion
If the idea has merit, what's the path to making money from it? License it to an existing company? Build a product around it? Use it as a defensive patent? We help you think through the options and their realistic prospects.
Important: This Is Not Legal Advice
We are not patent attorneys and we do not provide legal advice. Our advisory service is focused on the commercial and technical dimensions of your invention — the questions that come before you engage a patent attorney. If your idea has commercial merit, we'll tell you, and we can point you toward the right legal resources for the next steps.
Who This Is For
- Engineers and technical professionals who've developed a novel method or device in the course of their work
- Inventors in the industrial, mining, oil & gas, or energy technology space
- Small companies or startups who want to understand the commercial value of a potential patent before investing in the legal process
- Anyone who's been told 'you should patent that' and wants an honest second opinion on whether it's worth it
